Cuisine
Teror is an iconic town rich in tradition and culture, and is also renowned for its cuisine.
Agriculture has played an important role in its history and culinary heritage, offering premium-quality local produce that forms the basis of the finest Canarian flavours, such as puchero (meat and vegetable stew), papas arrugadas (wrinkly potatoes) and gofio escaldado (gofio mixed with fish or meat stock). Livestock farming has also been essential, making morcilla (sweet black pudding), chorizo and local cheeses some of the town’s most sought-after delicacies.
Teror is also known for its baking and patisserie—artisan bread, truchas (sweet turnovers) and sweet egg bread—as well as its traditional gofio mill. And, of course, its most iconic drink is the mineral water drawn from Teror’s Fuente Agria spring.
