HOW TO GET HERE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

GLOBAL (www.globalsu.net)

The public transport operator Global will deploy the majority of its staff and fleet to provide special services for the El Pino festivities on 7 and 8 September, as well as on Las Marías Day, ensuring that all residents of Gran Canaria, as well as visitors, can travel to Teror comfortably and safely. The public transport company Global will operate over 300 buses, departing from all areas of Gran Canaria.

SPECIAL SERVICES

GLOBAL’s special services will start at 9 am on 7 September and will continue until midnight on 8 September, ensuring convenient, safe and efficient transport for pilgrims travelling from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, San Mateo, Moya, Firgas, Gáldar, Arucas, Vecindario, Carrizal, Valsequillo, Santa Brígida and Telde to the Marian town of Teror.

Travellers departing from Teror should note that the Bus Station will be closed between 2 pm on Saturday 7th and 8 am on Sunday 8th. Departure platforms will therefore be relocated to other points within the municipality.

Buses bound for San Telmo, Tamaraceite, Arucas, Firgas, Moya, Guía and Gáldar will depart from Avenida del Cabildo. Services to San Mateo, Santa Brígida, Valsequillo and Telde will depart from the Los Llanos district. The Valleseco line will depart from the El Castaño site in Los Llanos.

Tickets on sale from 2 September at special prices

Global will issue special tickets, which can be purchased in advance from the San Telmo offices from Monday 2 September—the recommended option to avoid queues and waiting times. However, holders of the Wawa Joven, Bono Residente, Bono Oro and TransGC cards may travel without the need to visit the ticket office.

In addition, ticket offices will be available at San Telmo Bus Station, Franchy Roca Park in Telde, Teror Bus Station, at all boarding points along Avenida del Cabildo in Teror, and at the departure point located in the Los Llanos district.

Return tickets for the direct service from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Teror will cost €6.90, while the combined route Las Palmas – Tamaraceite outbound and Teror – Las Palmas return will be €5.50. A return trip to Telde will cost €8.40.

To ensure passenger safety, Global has arranged a private security team of 50 staff, working alongside the State Security Forces and Local Police at boarding points during peak times.

Road closures

As is customary during this festival, on 7 and 8 September the GC-21 road (Tamaraceite–Teror) will operate as one-way traffic towards Teror, and the GC-43 road (Teror–Arucas) will also be one-way down to Arucas. This means that all buses travelling back will descend via Arucas, from where they will continue to San Telmo Bus Station via the GC-3.

The GC-21 (Tamaraceite–Teror) will be closed to traffic between 5 pm and 5 am, requiring all buses bound for Teror to be diverted via Arucas to Cruz de Firgas, continuing through Los Chorros to the La Laguna junction, and then on to Teror.

Festividad de Las Marías

The Las Marías Festivity will take place on Sunday 15 September, with special services operating from 7 am until midnight.

From Teror, direct buses will run to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Tamaraceite, Arucas, Telde, Valleseco and San Mateo, while connections to other municipalities will be available via transfers at San Telmo, Arucas, Telde or San Mateo Bus Stations. All regular and special lines will operate from Teror Bus Station.
